What's Happening in RRPS?
FREE Film Screening at the PAC
Water is essential for human life and well-being, and yet millions of people lack fresh water in many parts of the globe.

You are invited to a free film screening of FLOW: For Love of Water, on Friday, April 25th, at 7pm at the Rio Rancho High School Performing Arts Center Black Box.

Join us to gain some water knowledge and a short discussion after the film to focus on our local drought and some solutions. Facts about water use worldwide.

Seeking Advisory School Council Candidates
Parents, staff members, and community members -- you're invited to help make your school a great place for kids to learn by participating on an Advisory School Council!  Members are chosen through an elective process and serve for a full school year.  Find out about our school councils and how to apply here! 
U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Supports Common Core
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation has just released a video in support of the Common Core State Standards initiative. NSPRA is pleased that the business community expressed its belief in this important educational step forward.

The short video shares key messages about the Common Core delivered by classroom teachers, education leaders, business leaders, and politicians alike. It explains why the Common Core is a necessary and good attempt to better align education to the expectations of the business and collegiate communities.

RRPS Achieves 84% District Graduation Rate
The latest graduation rate data has been released by the state, and RRPS's districtwide average is the highest for any large district in the state.  Two of our high schools have graduation rates exceeding 90%!  Which ones?  Find out here!

K-3 Program at M. Cordova Elementary!
Take advantage of this excellent opportunity for students from Maggie Cordova Elementary School to participate in 25 additional instructional days with the focus in literacy and math.  K-3 Plus is an early start of regular school; it is not a remedial program or summer schoolThis is open to all entering K-3 students living in the MCES boundary.

The program is free of charge and is intended to increase instructional time in kindergarten and the early grades to narrow the achievement gap and increase cognitive skills.  To participate your child must be entering Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, or 3rd grade in the upcoming school year and be a resident within the MCES boundary.

Calling All Mentors!
Interested in becoming a Mentor to our students?
Mentoring serves as a powerful way to connect with our children that change the vision, health, or the economic base of a community.  The impact of a mentor with youth is boundless and serves as a low-cost, low-tech strategy to help youth in challenging situations.  Mentoring is one effective tool for keeping students in school. If interested, please contact Student Services at 896-0667 ext. 51129 or 51177, or you can click here to download, print and submit the application (pdf).

Translation Services Available!
The Rio Rancho Public Schools offers free translation and interpretation services to parents for school related matters during the whole school year. If you wish to request an interpreter, please let the front office personnel know. You may contact Sofia Howerton, RRPS District Translation at 896-0667.
