RRPS STUDENT RESEARCH EXPOS

microscopeWelcome to the Senior Research EXPO home!

See this year's winners! View the overall placements, and check out the special award winners.

Hundreds of RRPS students have been testing their theories and are now ready to present their results to the 80+ volunteer judges and the community at the EXPO, Thursday, January 20 in the RRHS Auxiliary Gymnasium, 301 Loma Colorado NE. The public is invited to visit from noon until 1:30 PM. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed.

The Research EXPO program is designed to help students develop critical thinking skills by researching topics in a variety of disciplines including humanities, engineering, fine arts, and other academic areas. Students choose a topic of their interest, develop a testable question about that topic, gather and analyze data, and prepare materials reporting their results.

atomsUp to a hundred students with projects receiving an award will be invited to participate in the Central New Mexico Science and Engineering Challenge, the regional-level science and engineering competition held at UNM in Albuquerque each spring. From there they can qualify for state and international competition. Rio Rancho students have qualified to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in seven of the eight past years.

Students from Rio Rancho High School’s Culinary Arts program will get some hands-on experience during the EXPO through catering a luncheon for the judges.

For more information on how to participate, visit, or donate, please call Jennifer Myashiro, RRHS Science Instructional Leader, at 896-5746 or e-mail to jmiyashiro@rrps.net
