Substitute Teaching in Rio Rancho Public Schools
Rio Rancho Public Schools is working hard to build a highly-qualified group of substitute personnel to work in our district.
Substitutes work on an “as needed” basis depending upon available assignments.
It is the goal of the district to employ substitutes with a minimum of 60 hours college credit hours; but, applicants with a minimum of a high school diploma may still apply.
Subs are placed on a salary schedule based on official college transcript hours or possession of current teaching license. Click here for Substitute Salary Information (pdf).
It would be in your best interest to request official college transcripts or high school/GED documentation once you’re contacted regarding your application. You will be asked to provide official transcripts, or a copy of a current teaching license if hired.
All employment in the district is contingent upon satisfactory criminal background checks and satisfactory references.
Application Process
- Go to the RRPS Human Resources web page and review all information about the general job search and application procedures.
- If subs are being hired, the position will be posted in Applicant Portal, the website that integrates with the RRPS website for all job postings and applications. Click on the “Job Search” tab in Applicant Portal to see if the position is open.
- After creating an Applicant Portal account online, submit your substitute application there.
PLEASE BE AWARE: Our Substitute Services Staff will be available from 8 - 11am Monday through Thursday at the District Office for walk-in hours. Staff will accept completed fingerprint documents and cashier checks/money orders during these times.
