S.A.F.E. Program Seeking Students for Mentorship/Job Opportunities

                                                                                                                   
Wanted: Responsible high school students to be role models for younger students, gain work experience, and make money in the bargain!

During the coming school year, Rio Rancho Public Schools’ Students Achieving for Excellence (S.A.F.E.) before and after school program will offer after-school work opportunities for Rio Rancho high school students who are at least 16 years of age.  Students will be assigned to one of Rio Rancho’s ten elementary school sites and will, under adult supervision, supervise and coordinate activities with students in kindergarten through fifth grade. 

Students will work approximately 15 hours a week – 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday – and be paid $9.00 an hour.  Students may also have the opportunity to work during inservice days. 

This new program will provide an opportunity for high school students to gain experience in applying for and successfully performing in a job, build a resume, and earn extra money while serving as positive role models for younger children. 

High school students employed by S.A.F.E., as a condition of their employment, will be expected to maintain acceptable behavior and passing grades in their high school classes. 

Students interested in applying will need to fill out a regular Rio Rancho Public School application via the district’s online “Jobs” Web portal here.  The job is titled “Youth Development Leader.”  Students will need to create a profile on the applicant portal before completing an application, and will be required to interview for the position.
