Registration Information (FOR THE 2009-10 SCHOOL YEAR!):
The following information applies to all children who
will be registered at RRPS schools this coming fall. Existing
students will have already gone through pre-registration
activities at their respective schools, but may still
need to attend registration activities in August before
school starts (view school calendar here).

Rio Rancho students will return to school in mid-August, as follows:
- High schools: Classes begin Thursday, August 13
- Middle Schools: Classes begin Friday, August 14
- Elementary schools, grades K-5:
- Parent-teacher visits and student pre-testing: August 14 - 18
- Elementary school classes begin Wednesday, August 19
What to bring to registration...
If you are registering your child(ren) for the first
time, here is the list of what you MUST bring with you when you go to register your child:
- Original birth certificate issued by a state or municipality (NOT by a hospital)
- Court documents pertaining to guardianship, if applicable
- Copy of student’s current Individualized Education Plan (IEP), if applicable
- Immunization records:
Students must be current on all required immunizations before they will be permitted to attend school. Please note that all seventh graders who have not received a tetanus-containing vaccine within the past five years will be required to have a Tdap shot this year. Students enrolling in kindergarten must be five years of age by 12:01 AM on September 1 as required by state law. View our Immunization Requirements here. - Social Security number (requested, but not required)
- Proof of residency (CURRENT utility bill, rent receipt, or purchase agreement)
- Transcripts (high school)
Returning students (students previously enrolled in a Rio Rancho school) at all schools should provide the following:
- Updated immunization records/medication information (click for complete immunization requirements)
- Transcripts from summer school or correspondence classes, if applicable
- VERY IMPORTANT...CURRENT contact information: phone numbers, addresses, parents’ work location(s) and phone, cell phone, parents’ e-mail address, and emergency contact number(s) for someone other than the parents. This information will be used to reach you through the district emergency notification system if there is an emergency at your school, and also directly in any situation specifically involving your child.
- Other information as requested by the school -- many schools require proof of residency for returning students.
