Rio Rancho Schools Name Parent Volunteer Honorees

Every year, Rio Rancho’s schools take special pleasure in recognizing parents whose service to their school’s students goes above and beyond the call of duty. These parent volunteers will be honored during the district’s annual recognition dinner on Monday, May 7.

Schools have the opportunity to nominate and honor a parent as their Volunteer of the Year. A committee then reviews the nominations and chooses an Elementary, Middle School, and High School Volunteer of the Year, and an overall winner. The winners will be announced at the event.

This year’s School Volunteer of the Year honorees are:

Elementary Schools:
Anne Walker, Shining Stars Preschool; Tim Sena, Cielo Azul; Meghan Lyman, Colinas del Norte; Melissa Pacheco, Enchanted Hills; Bill Smith, Ernest Stapleton; Irma Pallas, Maggie Cordova; Patty Rudolph, Martin Luther King, Jr.; Anna Mayberry, Puesta del Sol; Cheryle Daniels, Rio Rancho Elementary; Sonya Rios, Sandia Vista; Nini Lujan, Vista Grande.

Middle Schools: Nikki Santino, Eagle Ridge; Rhonda Sena, Lincoln; Pat Thieme, Mountain View; Jessica Yesh, Rio Rancho Middle School.

High Schools: Shayne Sawyer-Abrahamson, Cleveland High; Adele Currans, Independence High; Dannie Harper, Rio Rancho Cyber Academy; Dr. Brenda Wolfe, Rio Rancho High.

District Office: Rich Garland

The annual recognition dinner also acknowledges retiring teachers and staff members, employees with more than 10 years of service, and a staff member chosen from each school for special recognition.

Mission: Rio Rancho Public Schools is dedicated to graduating each student with an educational foundation for success as a responsible, ethical contributor to society.
